THE CHALLENGE
Mountain View Funeral Home in Mesa, Arizona, is tucked peacefully within its cemetery just off the road. They wanted something to bring attention to their location and the services that they offer. “Traditional signage tends not to be noticed, and we felt a digital display was a great investment in our business,” said Steve Lewis, General Manager of Mountain View Funeral Home. When choosing the display, Mountain View felt that the company selling the display was just as important as the product itself. Competing sign companies conducted a demo of their products, followed with their presentations. After calling each company back for a second round of presentations, they confidently decided on the
Daktronics display. “We had a high comfort level that our sign company, Precise Sign, would be able to provide excellent service during and after the sale, and we are very happy with the results, said Lewis”
THE DAKTRONICS SOLUTION
Although many local business owners praised the display, others have been hesitant about the new installation. Ahead of the game, Mountain View management was well prepared to address the public’s concerns. “Many people are resistant to change and some have not been happy about seeing a digital display in front of a funeral home,” said Lewis. “We have taken this opportunity to talk with these people and give them the chance to give us feedback on how they would like to see
the display used. I truly believe that they feel better about the display after we finish our conversation.” Even without unanimous approval, the display has already accomplished Mountain View’s goals. “The display has gotten more attention than this year’s advertising so far, just in the one month it has been operating,” said Lewis. Mountain View Funeral Home reaches out to their community by promoting events such as blood drives and Alzheimer’s support groups. Customers have begun to embrace the idea of using the display as well. “We have placed pictures on the sign for some of our families’ decesed
loved ones along with their service information, and this has been well accpeted and appreciated,” Lewis said. The more people see of the sign, the more comfortable they will be with its presence.”
